Development & Testing Engineer

The Development & Testing Engineer will support all of the technical and engineering tasks required to develop new products, improve existing products, and provide data to sales and marketing to support end-user conversion; including design, testing, competitor analysis and standards interpretation. The incumbent will work within R&D, which will include working with the R&D team in the UK. The role will also involve working with the applications engineering groups globally. This individual will conduct testing and analysis to identify improvement opportunities, recommend appropriate actions, and implement change.  The individual will be a hands-on problem solver who will be encouraged and expected to recommend improvements in testing protocols and product design.



  • Provide engineering support for projects – typically R&D projects, new product development and ongoing product support.

  • Carry out industry standard and customized testing systematically and accurately.

  • Research new products, product enhancements, and product redesign that align the product development function with the goals of the organization.

  • Help evaluate the potential and practicality of products in development.

  • Help prepare proposals for new projects.

  • Support new product development efforts through research, rapid conceptual product development, and testing.

  • Prepare and conduct engineering design reviews.

  • Design and perform a variety of static and dynamic component and system tests.

  • Write progress, compliance, technical and other similar reports.

  • Manage effort to satisfy requirements within schedule and budget.

  • Other job functions and duties as assigned by management.

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from a four-year college or university in Mechanical Engineering.

  • 1-2 years in a mechanical testing laboratory or similar facility experience.

  • Knowledge of statistical analysis and tools and Design of Experiments is preferred.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.

  • Ability to lead projects is an advantage.

  • Experience analyzing vast amounts of data using spreadsheets and database reporting tools is required.
